In the first test match of the Sri Lanka tour of New Zealand, the tourist side was invited to bat first as Kane Williamson won the first toss of the tour in Wellington. The young inexperienced
Sri Lankan side lead by Dinesh Chandimal starts their batting against the
attack of Boult and Southee. Sri Lanka batted well in their innings despite of
losing early wickets in first hour of the match and managed to get 298 /10 in day
2. Southee continued to fire up and finished with 6 wickets in his 27 overs.
Boult and Wagner bowled beautifully throughout the innings but only managed to
took 1 and 2 wickets respectively.
For Lankan Karunaratne played well in top of Order to made 79
in partnership with Mathews who made 80 runs with patience. Wicket keeper
batsman Dickwella well made 80 not out and played a mature innings with tail
handlers.
If we talk about New
Zealand innings, there was nothing to talk about Sri Lankan bowlers. The black caps
openers played well as their opener Latham is still playing on 121 in the end
of day 2. But it's not about Latham only, each and every ones were playing well
in the middle. Williamson was another star player as he made 91 with strike rate
of almost 100 but unfortunately got out before getting his hundred. Ross Taylor
also played well in day 2 and still remains unbeaten at the end of day 2, he
played well as he made exactly 50 on the board at the end of the day. Sri Lankan
bowlers can't do anything in that pitch although Dhananjay de Silva and Lahiru Kumara
get one wicket each.
New Zealand were 311/2 at the end of the day 2 in Wellington
and both the set batsman Taylor and Latham looks good in the middle.
New Zealand are well in control on day 2 of the first test match against Sri Lanka
